Josh Green is on the move, with the Mavericks shipping the 23-year-old wing out as part of the three-team Klay Thompson sign-and-trade deal, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday.

Thompson is headed from the Warriors to the Mavericks, while Green will head to Charlotte to join the Hornets. Charlotte will receive the services of an uber-athletic defensive wing fresh off his first NBA Finals appearance with Dallas — and an upcoming Olympic campaign with Australia.

Josh Green traded to Charlotte Hornets

Josh Green joins Boomers teammates Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels in being traded this NBA offseason, with Green headed to Charlotte as part of a three-team trade.

This move was spurred by Klay Thompson's desire to leave the Warriors and sign with the Mavericks, which was eventually worked out as a sign-and-trade deal.

After four years in Dallas, including a maiden finals appearance in 2024, Green will now head to a young and rebuilding team in Charlotte, where he can expect to see an increased role alongside rising stars LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller.

Green had a successful season in 2023/24, with the young wing seeing his numbers rise across all categories as his role increased for a surprising contender in Dallas.

This was highlighted by an impressive Game 5 in the NBA Finals, in which he scored 14 points on 5-8 shooting, as well as two rebounds.
