K-actor Jung Woo-sung admits to fathering model Moon Ga-bi's child

SEOUL – South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung, 51, admitted on Nov 24 that he is the father of South Korean model Moon Ga-bi’s child.
Moon, 35, had made a surprise announcement about the birth on her social media on Nov 22 by uploading a picture of her and the baby. The post did not state details like the child’s birthdate or the identity of the father.
South Korean media reported that Jung was the child’s father on Nov 24, and the actor confirmed it through his talent management agency Artist Company on the same day.
The agency said: “He is currently in the process of discussing the best possible avenues for childcare, and as a father, he will take full responsibility for the child until the end.”
Jung did not disclose details about his relationship with Moon.
South Korean news reports state that Moon and Jung first met at a gathering in 2022 and kept in touch afterwards. In June 2023, Moon discovered she was pregnant with Jung’s child.
The two reportedly discussed the baby’s name as well as arrangements for Moon’s medical and postpartum care. But the pair never developed a serious romantic relationship or planned to marry.
Moon’s social media post showed her son’s hand touching her face. She said 2023 was a turbulent year for her and added: “As a mother, I found the courage to embrace a simpler happiness for my child and myself.”
She also shared her initial feelings of shock and anxiety upon learning about the pregnancy.
“The news came so unexpectedly that I couldn’t fully celebrate or enjoy the moment. Instead, I chose to spend most of the pregnancy quietly, surrounded by my family’s blessings.
“I want my child to see only the bright and beautiful world I once knew, and to do that, I have to be brave.”
She added that expressing these emotions made her feel “slightly more liberated”.
Moon made her debut in 2017 and rose to fame with appearances on variety shows like Get It Beauty (2006 to 2021) and survival reality show Law Of The Jungle (2011 to 2021).
Jung is a critically acclaimed A-list actor, known for films such as A Moment To Remember (2004), The Good, The Bad, The Weird (2008), Innocent Witness (2019) and Hunt (2022).
Innocent Witness won him the Grand Prize at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, the highest honour. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2022 with A Man Of Reason, and also starred in it.
He is the co-founder of Artist Company, alongside his good friend and fellow actor, Squid Game (2021 to present) leading man Lee Jung-jae. THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
