The Karate Kid saga returns to the big screen with Karate Kid: Legends, an exciting new chapter set to hit theaters on May 30. This latest installment unites franchise veteran Ralph Macchio, reprising his iconic role as Daniel LaRusso, with martial arts legend Jackie Chan, who portrayed Mr. Han in the 2010 Karate Kid remake.
The film introduces Ben Wang as Li Fong, a fresh-faced student mentored by Daniel and Mr. Han. Wang, a breakout star from American Born Chinese, was selected after an extensive global talent search, impressing casting directors with his mastery of martial arts disciplines such as karate, wing chun, and taekwondo. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Wang expressed his deep connection to the story, describing it as a fusion of his childhood inspirations, including Jackie Chan’s cinematic legacy.
Joining the cast is Ming-Na Wen as Li Fong’s mother, alongside Joshua Jackson and Sadie Stanley in undisclosed roles. The trailer teases thrilling action sequences, heartfelt mentorship moments, and a fresh take on the franchise’s timeless themes.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle (I Am Not Okay With This), with a screenplay by Rob Lieber (Peter Rabbit), Karate Kid: Legends is produced by Karen Rosenfelt.
