'Karate Kids: Legends' Trailer Kicks Off a New Chapter

Ralph Macchio, star of the original trilogy as well as the Netflix revival Cobra Kai, stars alongside Jackie Chan, who played Karate teacher Mr. Han 2010 Karate Kid movie.
Jonathan Entwistle directs Legends, which stars Ben Wang as a young karate student. Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight and Wyatt Oleff also on the call sheet. It has a script from Rob Lieber.
Karate Kid began life as a sleeper 1984 hit that starred Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, a down-on-his-luck East Coast transplant to San Fernando Valley. Under the tutelage of Mr. Miaygi (Pat Moreta), he beats the odds to become a champion. Two more features followed, as well as a fourth starring Hilary Swank. The 2010 movie starred Jaden Smith opposite Chan.
Cobra Kai, meanwhile, bowed on YouTube Red in 2018, and later migrated to Netflix, where it became a hit for the streamer. It will conclude with the final batch of season six episodes in February.
Karate Kid: Legends arrives from Columbia and Sony on May 30.
