Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn WoodsKarl-Anthony Towns is turning Jordyn Woods into a "basketball savant" as she continues to support her NBA star beau on and off the court.
Towns, 28, scored 50 points in Sunday night's NBA All-Star Game alongside LeBron James, Stephen Curry and more of the NBA's biggest stars.
A four-time All-Star, Towns missed nearly four months of the prior NBA season due to a grade 3 calf strain, and the rehabilitation process was "a challenge" he overcame through support from his family and Woods, 26.
"I've never had an injury like that," he tells PEOPLE inside the STARRY lounge at All-Star Weekend. "So being able to keep my mind strong and get back to this stage at All-Star is awesome."
"My family got me through every tough time I’ve ever had," he continues. "I’ve always been able to fall back on my family, my support system, my friends and I've got an amazing woman at home so it makes those tough times not so tough."

Woods, 26, traveled to Indianapolis to cheer on Towns in the All-Star game, and the athlete says "it means a lot" that Woods shows her support for him by immersing herself in the basketball world.
"We have those talks, we watch game film with each other, we watch lots of basketball with each other, and we’re dissecting the game," says Towns. "And she’s becoming more of a basketball savant," he adds.
Beyond the sport, Towns says having Woods' support "on a daily basis," whether it's at games or elsewhere, "is truly special to me."

The NBA star continues, "You know, with my mom and my sister, I’ve seen the impact that good women have on men’s lives, and I'm just blessed that I saw that firsthand before I got with Jordyn so that I could learn to appreciate her."
After Towns' 50-point showing on Sunday, Woods was spotted watching his media interviews and holding his sneakers while he spoke to reporters at the Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana.

In November, Woods told PEOPLE she thinks the key to their three-year relationship is "friendship and trust," and having built a strong bond prior to dating.
“We were really good friends before we started dating, and COVID gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other, because a lot of people don't really get to know each other and they go into this relationship.”
“So, we've been through a lot together,” she added. “We've seen each other at all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

The couple began dating in May 2020 and went public with their relationship in September of that year. In the time since, they have traveled around the world together and frequently share their affection and appreciation for each other on social media.
