Middleton, 42, was met by a standing ovation as she made her way to the royal box at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday afternoon, where Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic were competing in the men’s singles final.

She was also joined by her daughter, Princess Charlotte, 9, and sister, Pippa Middleton. Prince William was not in attendance, having travelled to Germany that day to attend the Euro 2024 championship match, as part of his duty as the president of the Football Association.

Speculation has been mounting about whether the Princess of Wales would attend this year’s tennis tournament. She has been the patron of the All England Club since 2016, and has presented the trophies to winners of the Wimbledon Grand Slam in recent years.

While she did not attend the women’s final, Middleton and Charlotte did meet with winning player Barboa Krejcikova inside the club, where Charlotte was reportedly gifted Krejcikova’s racquet.

It’s only the second public appearance the princess has made since she shared she was battling cancer with the public in March, 2024. At the time, Middelton took to Instagram with an emotional video where she explained that the diagnosis came as a “huge shock,” adding, “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

Since then, Middleton also made a surprise appearance at Trooping The Colour, in June.

To commemorate the rare outing, Kensington Palace took to social media, sharing several snaps of Middleton and Charlotte, alongside the caption, “Great to be back at Wimbledon! There’s nothing quite like The Championships.”

As always, the mother-daughter duo were fashionably coordinated for the occasion, with Middleton donning a custom vibrant purple dress by Safiyaa, and Charlotte in a navy polka dot sundress.
