Per league source: Mavericks are chasing Klay Thompson EXTREMELY hard. <br>With Luka and Kyrie orchestrating and PJ Washington draining corner 3s, imagine the spacing created by Klay.

This news comes as the the Golden State Warriors are "preparing" to lose Thompson in free agency after he spent 11 years with the franchise.

Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 2023-24. He has been named an All-Star five times and earned two All-NBA selections. While Golden State would surely welcome him back, he will be among the top free agents available and Dallas could be the perfect team to snatch him up.

The Mavericks have $23 million in second apron space and are extremely close to a championship. Dallas went 50-32 in 2023-24 and earned the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks advanced all the way to the NBA Finals but would fall to the Boston Celtics in five games.

Thompson could be a legitimate third option behind Luke Dončić and Kyrie Irving and could keep Dallas as a contender within the West. His championship pedigree would also be desired, as he could potentially be the piece that helps flip the script against tough opponents like the Celtics.
