The Dolphins have rolled the dice at the NRL judiciary and the decision to risk a lengthier ban for Felise Kaufusi in an attempt to have him available for their do-or-die clash with Newcastle has paid off.
Instead of copping a two-match ban for his late shot on Adam Reynolds, Kaufusi requested a downgrade for the charge from a grade two to a grade one but would have been out three weeks if he was unsuccesful in pleading his case. He was successful at Tuesday night’s judiciary hearing and will pay a fine and play in Sunday’s game, where the winner will wrap up eighth spot and advance to the finals.
Veteran duo Kodi Nikorima and Jesse Bromwich were stood down due to concussion protocols and will be right to face the Knights.
