Kylie Minogue’s freight train comeback has wobbled after she released the follow-up single to her renaissance summer smash Padam Padam.

The 55-year-old Aussie pop queen sent fans into delirium when she dropped the second course and title track to her new album Tension.

The 3-minute 36 track has nineties house vibes. Whilst her hardcore fanbase reacted by saying they are here for it, others said the new single is a “grower” unlike her instant classic Padam Padam which returned her to the charts in Australia, the UK and the US for the first time in years.

The Melburnian superstar sings about sex on the track, purring in the chorus: “My God, touch me right there. Almost there, touch me right there. Don’t be shy, boy, I don’t bite. You know where. Touch me right there.”

Devoted fans including her sister Dannii Minogue already have the single on loop.

One called Danalexwrites said they were “Obsessed”.

Singer Betty Who added: “I love this and you.”

Little sister Dannii reacted to the video, saying: “Looks incredible…dance routines…yay”.

But other fans said Padam Padam was hard to live up to after it topped the charts and said Tension is a “grower”.

Pop critic Christian Guiltenane wrote: “A surprising follow-up to an iconic and quirky tune like Padam Padam. Was always going to be hard to follow up.”

Gary Brewer reacted: “Listened three times … not feeling it just yet”.

“I love Kylie, but this is not one of her best,” Evan Parsons wrote, whilst another pop fan called Brad insisted “Sorry…but this is a b-side filler”.

The track comes from the pop legend’s upcoming sixteenth studio album which drops on September 22.

She is hoping it will be the soundtrack to the Aussie summer and her seventh Australian number-one album.

Minogue will continue to break new ground by playing the record at her first Las Vegas residency in America this year, which sold out in minutes.

Her renewed success is down to the TikTok market.

She recently told the Zach Seng Show of Tik Tok-esque tunes: “It cuts to the chase quicker. That would be the biggest takeaway. You know, your long intro, your double - I mean, it’s like snap,”

“Your verse is like half a verse, chorus. A lot of it is TikTokified. No doubt for the kind of attention span that we all talk about.”
