After triumphantly returning to the screen, Lohan has set her sights on the next chapter—which could include an Adam Sandler movie, SNL’s Five-Timers Club, and that long-awaited Freaky Friday sequel: “I hope it’s sooner than later.”

During her days as a child star in films including The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, Lindsay Lohan was taught “to say ‘yes’ to everything,” she recently told Bustle, “and that’s not really what life’s all about.”

But years later, after marrying financier Bader Shammas and welcoming their first child, Luai, Lohan has returned to the screen with far more discernment—and an eye on what’s next. “You have to stay true to yourself and what you love,” she said. “It’s so easy to get lost in other things and everything that’s new. You become less interesting, and things just become less interesting.”

Following two Netflix rom-coms—2022’s Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish (out March 15)—as well as a cameo in the recent Mean Girls musical adaptation, Lohan shared some ideas about what’s next in her career, and it looks like Lindsay Lohan’s movies wish list is full of potential blockbusters. “Karl Lagerfeld told me to play Clara Bow,” she said of the silent film star. But it’s another star who resonates more with Lohan. “I really want to play Ann-Margret [Olsson], and we’re trying to find a writer for that story,” she told Bustle. “She’s a triple threat, and she’s an amazing woman on top of that. So I just really want to do her justice and help tell a great story for her.”

Lindsay Lohan may have already received the seal of approval for that project. While posing together for 2005’s People Most Beautiful issue, Olsson said, “Oh, yes. I see a lot of me in her,” adding, “There’s a certain fire with redheads. We’re very spunky.” The pair was also once set to star together in a mid-aughts Jack Black comedy that never came to fruition.

The actor’s other goals feel similarly attainable. “I would love, love, love to do a movie with Adam Sandler,” said Lohan, a dream that could easily become reality considering both she and Sandler have Netflix deals. Lohan would also like to join Saturday Night Live’s Five-Timers Club—she’s just one episode short after hosting SNL in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2012. “I’m so close to that robe!” said Lohan only a week after Josh Brolin triumphantly returned as host for his own first time since 2012.

Lohan’s next Netflix project is an ensemble Christmas comedy costarring Kristin Chenoweth about two embittered exes who get trapped under the same roof upon discovering that their current partners are siblings. And then there’s that long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday, which both she and Jamie Lee Curtis have teased. “I can’t say much, but we are going to be doing it,” Lohan said. “I hope it’s sooner than later.”
