Lee obliterates record with 150-run Big Bash innings
Hobart Hurricanes star Lizelle Lee has smashed the WBBL record for an individual score by blasting her way to 150 not out off just 75 balls at the SCG.
The 32-year-old South African opener hit 12 fours and 12 sixes as part of an enormous innings on Sunday, finishing with a strike rate of 200.
Lee set the record for the most sixes in an innings and eclipsed Australian cricketer Grace Harris’ individual score record of 136, set last year.
Lee reached her century with a six over long on and brought up her 150 off the final ball of the innings.
It was a big turnaround in form for Lee, who had scored just 71 in her five previous WBBL innings this season, with a top score of 38.
“I have to give credit to everybody in our team that kept on believing in me and when I was doubting myself and crying and couldn’t stop, they were there and also my family supported me so much,” Lee told Seven.
She dominated a third-wicket stand of 114 with captain Elyse Villani, who contributed just 14.
“Elyse batted a fair bit with me and she just kept telling me to stay calm and follow my process and that’s what I did,” Lee said.
Social media was awash with praise for Lee, who made her international debut aged 21.
“This is Lizelle Lee’s summer, we’re just living it in!” South Australian Cricket Association’s Kristy Slater posted on X.
Lee began her WBBL career with the Melbourne Stars, and she has since played in 82 games for the Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes finished their innings at 3-203 and the Scorchers could not get close, all out of 131 in reply.

The result was welcome news for the Hurricanes who had suffered two consecutive losses, falling to the Stars and Sydney Sixers.
