Taking to Instagram, she shared in a video that her granddaughter gave her a makeover to cheer her up, which helped her feel "brave enough to and glam enough to say hello to everyone because it's been such a long time of radio silence," she said.

"The support I've had from the whole community Australia wide and from friends and family, I just have been so thankful and overwhelmed," the 79-year-old shared.

"But I will make a full recovery and part of it is the care and the love that I've been given."

The family explained that Beer wanted to tell her fans that she might have to cancel some of her upcoming appearances due to the incident - and that she hopes they understand.

"More than anything else, Maggie hates letting people down. But she has multiple events and public engagements coming up that she may have to miss," the statement continued.

"She has asked us to apologise on her behalf to all those affected - and has asked for your patience as she recuperates. Thank you for your understanding -The Beer Family."

Maggie and Col live in the idyllic wine region, the Barossa Valley, in South Australia.
