Manatee County Deputy dies following medical event

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has announced that one of its deputies passed away suddenly over the weekend.

The department confirmed that Deputy Ravi Ragoonanan passed away Sunday following an unexpected medical event off duty.

The sheriff’s office paid tribute to Ragoonanan on its social media platforms, “Deputy Ragoonanan was a loving father, son, brother, and a beloved member of the MCSO family. He served our community as a patrol deputy at MCSO for over 23 years. The void he leaves can never be filled, but we promise to honor and remember his life and service in all we do. Please remember his family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time.”

Details on funeral services have not been released at this time.
