Perth may be worlds away from Hollywood, but Margot Robbie looked every bit the star when she surprised guests at an exclusive event in Cottesloe.

Swapping Barbie-inspired fits for a loose white shirt and platform white crocs, every eye was on Robbie as she floated through the invite-only tasting of her gin label, Papa Salt.

Despite being one of the biggest names in film, Robbie was every bit the laid-back Australian, happily speaking to everyone in the room, the crowd predominantly people in the alcohol and hospitality industry — including Perth’s own icon, Tony Galati.

Robbie, 33, flew in on Sunday from the Gold Coast, where she said she got all of the boring stuff — seeing the dentist and getting a skin check — out of the way.

She marvelled at the event’s venue — Indigo Oscar, formally the Indiana Tearooms.

Fans gathered outside the restaurant, with some lucky beachgoers snapping a pic with the actress.

Papa Salt was soft-launched in Australia in May, selling out in less than 48 hours.

The brand, made in Byron Bay, was founded alongside Robbie’s husband of seven years, Tom Ackerley, and friends-turned-business partners Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas and Charlie Maas. All were in attendance at the Cottesloe event.

Presenting to the crowd, Robbie revealed the gin was proudly Australian, and gushed over how many excellent gins are already made here.

She said theirs was designed to taste good with soda, which is a little like “standing naked in front of the mirror” because you have nowhere to hide.

The group met through the film industry in London, with McNamara also a founder of LuckyChap Entertainment, Robbie and Ackerley’s production company behind Barbie, Promising Young Woman and I, Tonya.

Born from their shared love of gin, the Byron Bay-made spirit pays homage to the Australian laid-back lifestyle, incorporating oyster shells, wattleseed, hibiscus and more Aussie native botanicals.

Its trendy blue bottle retails for around $85 for 700ml.

It’s believed Robbie will be spending time in Australia ahead of her next project, the Ocean’s 11 prequel, where she is set to reunite with co-star Ryan Gosling.
