Crime scene 'highly emotive' as family, friends showed up

"The victim was with a number of people at a restaurant in Marrickville prior to the incident," Superintendent Kennis said.

People known to the deceased appeared at the crime scene last night.

He said it was "too early" to say how the family got there so quickly.

"However, a number of family and friends did converge on the crime scene.

It was a highly emotive crime scene at the time."

They found a 32-year-old man unconscious outside a fast food outlet.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

No-one has been arrested over the attack and police have established Strike Force Nogales to investigate circumstances of the killing.

Investigators have appealed for anyone with information, dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact them.

Several people, including some believed to be family members of the dead man, allegedly fought with authorities.

A NSW Police spokesperson said a taser was drawn during the scuffle but was not deployed.

They have scheduled a media conference for later this morning.
