Police investigate Max Verstappen for speeding through the streets ...
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen could be in a spot of bother after he was seen speeding through the streets of Monaco, with the police now investigating the incident.
The images were captured by Mark Cox, a close friend of Verstappen's, and caused a stir on social media.
Verstappen was caught behind the wheel of a luxury Aston Martin Valkyrie, one of the fastest cars in the world, valued at more than 2 million euros.
In the approximately 20-second video, he is seen easily exceeding the 90km/h limit on the Nice Nord motorway.
The video also prompted Monaco authorities to take the footage as evidence and investigate the related facts, which could result in him at least receiving a speeding fine.
What does Max Verstappen's luxurious Aston Martin Valkyrie look like?Known for its cutting-edge design and excellent high-performance performance, Max Verstappen's Aston Martin Valkyrie combines elegance and speed in a unique machine.
However, no matter how good the machine is, these cars are no guarantee of avoiding a road accident, especially when driving on a road with ordinary drivers. Moreover, a road accident is no joking matter, as it can have fatal consequences.
Therefore, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) took the case closely, as Formula 1 drivers are also public figures and should set an example to other drivers and also to promote the importance of road safety, so it asks its drivers to be aware of their social influence.
So far, Verstappen has not publicly commented on the incident, but in the coming days the Principality authority is expected to determine whether there is a sanction on the driver.
