Like last night's qualifying final, the loser of this match will get a second chance.

The winner will host a preliminary final in a fortnight — the same reward Penrith earned from victory last night.

The loser of this match will host a semifinal against either the North Queensland Cowboys or Newcastle Knights next week.

The Cowboys and the Knights face off tonight in an elimination final.

ABC Sport's sideline eye in Melbourne, Ryan Hoffman, has said the sun is poking its head through the clouds, after rain around during the day.

"It is a bit brisk. There's a swirling breeze," he says.

The Sharks have done it once this season, so I think this game is going to be tight.

Luke Garner was a star for the Panthers last night, scoring two tries in the qualifying final win.

He has joined ABC Sport and announced he would like to face Melbourne in the grand final, provided Penrith make it as well.

"They beat us twice this year … I think we can beat them," he said.

"It would be good to get one back this year."

Tyran Wishart is the most-improved player in the NRL this season and a vital part of Melbourne's premiership charge, but back home in Gerringong he's already a grand final hero.

The Panthers were on fire in the first half last night. They certainly produced some of their best footy against the Roosters.

I think Melbourne as minor premiers will be wanting to do the same thing this afternoon.

But remember — Cronulla beat the Storm in Melbourne earlier this season.

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has said a forward pass called on captain James Tedesco cost his side a chance to get within eight points of Penrith in Friday night's qualifying final loss.

There are no late changes to either the Melbourne Storm or the Cronulla Sharks.

Both teams will line-up as we expected from yesterday.

The 18th-man roles in this game will be filled by Grant Anderson (Melbourne) and Chris Vea'ila (Cronulla).

After their thumping return to form against the Roosters, Penrith have sent yet another reminder of their unquenchable thirst for greatness.
