On the match…

“I thought the boys did really well. Especially in the first half.”

“[The start] was good. We did a lot of good things.”

“But my expectation is high. I expect that and want that for 90 minutes.”

“To be fair, the players followed what we wanted to do very quickly. I was very happy for them to capitalise on doing that, which was great.”

On his personal experience of the game…

“There’s obviously a rivalry between both sets of teams and clubs, but for me I just treat it like any other game.”

“I was pretty much concentrating as much as I could on the game.”

On the second half…

“When you reflect and look upon it, you want to continue what you did in the first half.”

“I know teams are sometimes a bit inconsistent, I get it.”

“But for me it’s trying to sustain the level of the first half consistently into the second half.”

On his selection decisions…

“Daniel (Arzani) was suspended (for the first game). Just because he’s coming back into selection doesn’t mean he’s an automatic selection and that’s (the same) with everyone.”

“I thought Bruno (Fornaroli) did really well last week. But I knew this was a game that was a bit different to last week.”

“I didn’t want to change too much.”

“I’m not hiding away from competition. There is competition in this team…if you want to get in this team, you have to train hard every day.”

On Kasey Bos…

“I thought I escaped one Bos, and I came to another.”

“Kasey is very similar to Jordan (Bos), even though I think they’re two different people.”

“But it’s great to see Kasey pushing on and following his…path and his journey.”

“Kasey’s got an opportunity which is a credit to him.”

“It’s great to see young players coming through our system.”

On Nishan Velupillay’s improvement…

“One of the things I wanted to work on in the Summer was improving their end product.”

“He needs to work a lot more to get better, but so far he’s done great.”

“Obviously, he’s got himself into the Socceroos squad.”

“We’ve put a high bar on him and a high expectation for him.”
