The Demons will carry a 49-point lead into the final term.

They're on top of the Eagles, 14.9 (93) to 6.8 (44).

The Eagles showed fight in the third quarter, matching the Demons' three goals.

But the margin on the scoreboard appears to be a bridge too far for Adam Simpson's troops.

Eagles nab a late goal before final change

Jack Darling marks strongly and then puts through his first goal of the contest, as the Eagles grab a late major in the third term.

They trail by 49 points.

Gawn adds to Demons' lead

Max Gawn takes a solid mark inside the attacking 50 and then lands the set-shot to kick his first goal of the match.

After the Eagles made a bright start to the quarter, Gawn's goal establishes a 55-point lead for the home side.

Melksham gets a goal in his comeback match

The Demons get around Jake Melksham after he marks his AFL return with a goal midway through the third quarter.

Melksham ruptured his ACL last August and his career hung in the balance.

But after getting through his rehab, Melksham has made his return to senior duties, highlighting the moment with a well-deserved goal.

What a mark from Pickett!

Kysaiah Pickett brings the house down with one of the marks of the season!

Jacob van Rooyen kicked into the attacking 50 looking for a target and it was Pickett who climbed the back of Josh Rotham to take a breathtaking mark.

Unfortunately for Pickett, he couldn't convert from the set-shot and only came away with a behind.

Demons out a pause on Eagles' charge

The Eagles were building momentum after their back-to-back goals, but the Demons found a reply.

Bayley Fritsch kicked his second goal for the afternoon and the Demons are back out to a 42-point lead.

Eagles build as Waterman kicks his second

Jake Waterman backs up Oscar Allen's effort with his second goal of the match.

Waterman marked close to the goal square and didn't waste the chance from the set-shot to help the Eagles eat away at the Demons' advantage.

The Demons are still well in front, however, leading by six goals.

What a start for the Eagles!

The Eagles could not have made a better start to the third term, with Oscar Allen kicking a goal less than 30 seconds after play resumed.

From a free kick, Harley Reid launched a bomb deep into the attacking 50, but it seemed the play had broken down until Allen got his hands on the ball to sneak a goal through.

That's three majors for Allen.

Third quarter gets going

Hostilities have resumed at the MCG as the third quarter makes a start.

It's the Demons leading by 49 points.

Dees are loving it so far!Stat chat

It's no surprise the Demons are dominating the Eagles when you take contested possessions into account.

The Demons lead 72-48, their physicality at the contest shining through.

They are also on top in the inside-50s count, leading 30 to 20, and they've capitalised with 11 goals to three in the opening two quarters.

Just after the half-time siren sounded, tempers flared with a bit of push and shove between the two sides.

Nothing in it, but it's the Demons who are laughing as they take a 49-point lead into the main break.

For the record, the Demons lead the Eagles 11.5 (71) to 3.4 (22).

Van Rooyen having a day out

Four goals now to Jacob van Rooyen.

A smother forced an Eagles' turnover inside their defensive 50, with Bayley Fritsch then finding van Rooyen with a smart pass.

Van Rooyen converted from the set-shot to push the Dees out to a 49-point lead.

Turner on target with Demons' 10th goal

Daniel Turner joins in on the fun with the Demons' latest goal in the shadows of half-time.

Steven May found Turner on the lead, with the young Demon making no mistake with his set-shot just inside the arc.

Demons by 42 points.

Demons go six goals ahead

Just after Oscar Allen gave the Eagles hope of a comeback, Jacob van Rooyen cancels out his goal with his third of the match.

Demons by 36 points.

Allen take a bow!

Oscar Allen doubles his goal tally with a brilliant check-side effort.

Allen has been busy in the second term so far and appears to be growing in confidence.

Still, the Dmeons hold a comfortable 30-point lead with five minutes left until half-time.

Eagles halt Demons' goal spree

The Eagles have their second goal of the match, coming from Oscar Allen.

Allen took a superb contested mark inside the attacking 50 and converted from the set-shot to give the Eagles a degree of hope that they can launch a fightback.

Van Rooyen kicks his second

After a quiet start to the second term, the Demons resume their goal scoring through Jacob van Rooyen.

Van Rooyen was in the right place at the right time after Kysaiah Pickett sent a short pass into the goal square that was met by the Eagles' Campbell Chesser.

Chesser couldn't hold onto the ball and van Rooyen picked up the crumbs to kick his second for the match.
