Washington | Donald Trump has dropped former top diplomat and AUKUS supporter Mike Pompeo from his new administration, in a potential blow to the Albanese government, as the president-elect accelerates building his cabinet team after winning the US election.

Trump announced on social media on Saturday (Sunday AEDT) that former Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley and former secretary of state Pompeo will not be asked to join his administration, after last week securing a broad mandate to pursue an agenda of radical change.
