In a dramatic night of culinary competition, My Kitchen Rules fans were glued to Channel Seven as mother-son duo Caz and Fergus clinched the first Grand Final spot, edging out mother-daughter rivals Janey and Maddie in a tense sudden-death semi-final.
With the stakes as high as soufflés in the MKR kitchen, the episode killed it in the ratings, with a total TV national reach of 2,082,000 and a national average of 1,050,000, proving once again that Aussies love a good kitchen drama.
Judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge were full of praise for both teams, calling the night’s cooking “Grand Final level.”
It was a close contest, but Caz and Fergus’ Asian-inspired menu of Grilled Pork Jowl with Nahm Jim Jaew, Choo Chee Ocean Trout, and Panna Cotta delivered knockout flavour.
Meanwhile, Janey and Maddie brought their A-game with a technical menu featuring Kingfish Ceviche, Beef Wellington, and an impeccable Raspberry Soufflé that even Manu admitted he couldn’t top. Despite their impressive effort, a watery red wine jus cost them crucial points.
Caz and Fergus’ journey from Gatecrashers to Grand Finalists has been nothing short of remarkable. “One more big push,” Caz cheered as they celebrated their win.
The night wasn’t without its emotional moments. Reflecting on her time in the competition, Janey shared, “Nothing else has mattered more than spending the time with Maddie.”
Keeping the cooking drama going, on Ten Dessert Masters delivered an impressive total TV national reach of 774,000. Last night’s challenge was to create a dessert inspired by bubbles, celebrating the joy that aeration can bring and incorporating the flavour of one of six Schweppes fizzy drinks.
