One person missing after Queensland house explosion
One person is believed to be unaccounted for after an explosion in a gated community north of Brisbane this afternoon.
Residents reported hearing a "huge bang" on Nambucca Close in Murrumba Downs just before 1pm.
One home swiftly went up in flames with debris strewn down the street.
"There were pieces of the house on our front lawn," one neighbour said.
"Broken glass everywhere, broken windows everywhere."
It's understood two people were living at the address.
One is believed to be safe, while the other is unaccounted for.
Firefighters have not yet been able to enter the property for a search after it took 35 of them two hours to bring the blaze under control.
"The scene, as you can imagine, was a bit chaotic when we first arrived," Matthew Draper of the QFES said.
Police have declared an exclusion zone around the site, covering the area between Nambucca Close, Yaraki Court, Pine River Drive, and Drysdale Court, encompassing Barnard Crescent, Hastings Street, and Evans Court.
Hastings St and Evans Crt are closed.
Neighbouring properties have been evacuated.
