DICK Johnson Racing’s first podium-getting Gen3 Supercar has been sold – and it’s gone to quite the new home.

DJR chief executive David Noble revealed to V8 Sleuth that one of its new-for-2023 Shell V-Power Mustangs has been snapped up by none other than Ford and its CEO Jim Farley.

“Ford bought that car,” confirmed Noble.

That car is formally known as DJRS-03 and it now lives in the USA.

It debuted in the hands of Will Davison at the 2023 Newcastle 500 and continued on as the #17 entry through last year’s Bathurst 1000, the veteran collecting a third-place finish in Darwin along the way.

After the Great Race, Davison was moved into the fresher DJRS-05 chassis that had underpinned Kai Allen and Simona De Silvestro’s Great Race wildcard.

DJRS-03 meanwhile was shipped off to the States for use in Windshear wind tunnel aero parity testing, and it remains in North America to this day.

It’s not the only Gen3 machine to go abroad, however.

Shane van Gisbergen’s last Supercar, 888A-063 in which he and Richie Stanaway won the 2023 Bathurst 1000, now belongs to Tony Quinn who has tended to base the car in New Zealand.
