Good morning! It's 2024 NBA Draft Day!

It might not surprise you, but I have some friends who think that I am a little weird. I give them plenty of reasons to think this, but probably the most revealing is how excited I get for draft day. I’ve already received two text messages last night about it.

“Voita, are you ready for the Phoenix Suns to be on the clock?” You goddamn right I am.

The draft always provides a unique level of excitement. You’re making an addition to your franchise, you’re watching in real-time as somebody’s life is changed forever, and you don’t know exactly who that is. Even when the Phoenix Suns were first overall and had the opportunity to choose anybody they wanted, we didn’t know until his name was called that Deandre Ayton would be that pick. That’s the excitement in it.

I do always feel bad for players that the Suns select, however. The first thing they do after walking across the stage, putting on the hat, and conducting some interviews, is hop on a plane to Phoenix, Arizona in the middle of the summer. It’s not always the best first impression for a young prospect. But outside of that, how can you not be excited?
