The 2023 No.5 draft pick started cramping in the moments after the game, just as he was trying to celebrate with his adoring fans.
A group of Hawks supporters had all brought wizard hats for the game, and Watson even posed for a photo with them all, alongside partners in crime Jack Ginnivan and Connor Macdonald.
Moments later though, just as Abbey Holmes was about to interview Ginnivan and Watson together, Watson appeared to begin cramping in his calves.

He eventually limped over towards Holmes very gingerly.
“What a game, first final, to get this turnout with all the wizard hats, it’s lovely,” he said with a wizard hat that Ginnivan had just put on his head.
“But I started cramping up in the celebration just before, so I better get off the field now.
“What a win, go Hawks.”
Ginnivan, who has been the ring leader of the phenomenon that has become Hokball, said he was lapping it all up.
“This is so much fun,” he said.
“Everyone’s my age, everyone does what I do, celebrates, carries on. I love my forward line; we’ve got a few fossils, ‘Gunners’ (Jack Gunston) and (Luke) Breust keeping us together, but everyone else is so young and so happy.”
The small forward made headlines on Friday night for appearing at a Richmond pub with friends, the night before a game.
It came almost a year after he was publicly criticised by former coach Craig McRae for going to the Moonee Valley races the night before last year’s grand final.
Weeks later, he was traded by Collingwood to Hawthorn.
He insists coach Sam Mitchell was across his night at the pub, and that he was on the waters and home by 9pm.
“It’s water off a duck’s back,” he said of the public criticism he still receives.
“I feel like I’m allowed to go out and have a few waters, have dinner... I don’t know. Everyone will keep talking but I’ll just do what I do and just try to have fun and kick goals.”
