Queensland man wins 'mind-blowing' $50 million lottery jackpot
A Queensland man is headed to an early retirement after winning last night's $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot.
The man from Landsborough has become the "third-biggest winner of any lottery game so far in 2024" after buying his ticket online.
"I'm sort of in shock. Is that true? It's mind-blowing. I'm shaking," he told The Lott this morning.
Officials spoke with the man this morning after he missed several calls from The Lott last night.
He revealed the life-changing money now meant he could resign from work.
"When my bank manager asked me years ago what my retirement plans, I said, 'To win the lottery'. He just laughed at me. Well, I have," the winner said, according to The Lott.
"Another thing will be paying off the mortgage. That's the very first thing. For the first time, I'm going to own my house outright.
"I don't know how to feel. You made my day, made my life."
The entry was the only division one winner of the night.
So far this year, there have been 328 division one winners.
Last year, 16 Oz Lotto division one-winning entries across Australia — six in NSW, three in Victoria, two each in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia and one in South Australia — collectively won more than $330.8 million.
