It was moving quickly but he will be disappointed not to snare it.

This last pair continues to frustrate after everything else has gone in the home side’s favour today.

Pakistan are 9-264 with Jamal on 40 and Hamza on zero from 19 balls.

Jamal nails second six

Jamal pulled Hazlewood for six in that last over as Australia continues to try and lure him into sending a catch down the throat of a fielder.

So far, he hasn’t taken the bait and has improved to 37 runs, 34 of them have come in this last partnership.

Jamal has continued to farm the strike at the end of overs too.

“I wonder if Australia kept bowling fuller and then put in the odd short ball....they are taking out a lot of potential dismissals,” Mike Hussey said on Fox Cricket.

‘It’s 100 under par’: O’Keefe

Commentator Kerry O’Keefe has called Pakistan’s total, so far, of 9-253 as being 100 runs under an acceptable score on what looks to be a good SCG wicket.

“It’s 100 under par,” O’Keefe said on Fox Cricket.

Pakistan’s tail has given their side a chance in this match helping them add vital late runs including Jamal who has 29 not out and is taking much of the strike in this last-wicket partnership.

Pakistan are 9-253.

Jamal swinging freely

Jamal continues to swing freely at the Aussie quicks and, so far, he has scored all 23 runs in the final wicket partnership with Hamza who has faced just two balls.

Cummins is trying to lure Jamal into holding out but he has continued to find the gaps.

Lyon just misses out on last wicket

It’s dark in Sydney but the rain still looks a little ways away from reaching the SCG.

Lyon has come back on with Australia chasing the last wicket.

Jamal is trying to bat through the over, Hazlewood just misfielded a reverse sweep that ended up going for four.

Jamal smashed a drive back at Lyon and the spinner deflected it skywards but his dive still left him short of the ball as it fell to earth.

Pakistan are 9-237 with Jamal on 13 and Hamza on zero.

Cummins does something no Aussie bowler has done since 2017By Daniel Brettig

Cummins is the first Australian to take three consecutive five-wicket hauls in Tests since Nathan Lyon in 2017.

The last Australian to take four in a row is Shane Warne in 2004.

The world record for consecutive hauls of five wickets or more is also held by an Australian, Charles “Terror” Turner with six consecutive hauls in 1888.
