Paris Hilton has posted a video to TikTok from the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party—and people are criticizing it for being awkward.

The annual party is often the most lavish, celebrity-filled event of the holiday season and is hosted by Kim Kardashian and her family, including Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner. The reality star hosted the event at her home in Calabasas, California, which was covered in fake snow and featured a life-sized gingerbread house.

The party is a decades-long family tradition that has only been missed once since 1978, and this year A-list guests such as Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton were in attendance. Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian's friendship goes back to preschool as both of the Hollywood superstars grew up in Los Angeles.

A variety of photos and videos were shared to social media of the occasion, but there is one video in particular that has the internet in hysterics.

Paris Hilton uploaded a video of her and her mother, Kathy Hilton, with Kim Kardashian's daughter, North West. In it, the trio says "Merry Christmas" before Kathy Hilton starts singing a song she made up on the spot to an awkward-looking West. Some of the lyrics include "Merry Christmas little Northy" and "This kid, she's a princess. North West is the best."

"My mom has never done TikTok so she has no idea what she's doing," Paris Hilton can be heard saying in the clip.

In the caption, she said that she and West were trying to teach Kathy Hilton how to use TikTok. At the time of writing, it had been viewed 1.1 million times.

The video was also posted to X, formerly Twitter, by the entertainment account Pop Crave, where it has more than 481,000 views. People took to the comment section on both X and TikTok to share how awkward they found the interaction.

Newsweek reached out to Paris Hilton and Kathy Hilton representatives for comment via email on Tuesday.

"This is hilarious & creepy at the same time," one person wrote.

"I'm glad North is getting some normal kid embarrassment, it's a canon event we all have to go through," said another.

A third person added: "This is next level cringeworthy."

"North was forced to be there and it's obvious," a fourth person wrote online.

However, not everyone was critical of the video, as some have shared how legendary they think it is.

"Three generations, one fabulous squad! Paris, Kim, and North are serving looks and proving family is gold," one X user posted.

"This is iconic. But the beginning when Paris's mom sing to North has meme potential," a TikTok user said.

A third person added: "Paris with Kim's daughter is iconic."

This isn't the first time that a video of Paris Hilton and Kathy Hilton has been criticized online.

In the Season 2 trailer for Peacock's Paris in Love, the reality star presented her mom with her newborn son, Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, who she had via a surrogate. This was the first time that the pair were introduced.

Hilton decided to keep Phoenix's birth a secret, with the couple even hiding the baby's arrival from their immediate families until right before the socialite broke the news on social media.

"Your grandson, Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum," Paris Hilton said in the throwback footage. Amid tears, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Kathy Hilton asked her daughter whether she was "serious" before Paris Hilton handed her son over to her mom.

Upon the release of the trailer online, people criticized Paris Hilton and her mother for how they held Phoenix.
