Carlton captain Patrick Cripps and wife Monique welcome first child

Carlton captain Patrick Cripps and wife Monique have welcomed their first child together.

The pair announced the happy news in a joint Instagram post on Thursday, sharing sweet pictures of their newborn daughter Koda Sophie Cripps.

"Welcome to the world little Koda Sophie Cripps ????. 3 votes- Monfon ❤️❤️," the post was captioned.

They also shared an adorable snap of their newborn wrapped in a floral blanket while sleeping.

Fans and followers rushed to congratulate the pair on their new arrival in the comments, including Bec Judd, who wrote: "Beautiful news guys."

Jordan Ablett added: "Congratulations <3."

The couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in December 2022.

"MR & MRS CRIPPS ????," the post was captioned at the time, after they married in Perth, where Cripps is from.

They announced their engagement in March the same year.

"FOREVAAAA ????," Monique wrote on Instagram at the time.

Cripps, 29, was named co-captain of Carlton alongside Sam Docherty in 2018.

He took home the coveted Brownlow medal back in 2022.

At the time of the co-captaincy being announced, Docherty said: "Clearly the joint captaincy is a new direction for the club, but both Crippa and I have sat down and had really honest chats about how we're going to take this group forward together."

"This honour is incredibly special," Cripps said. 

It was announced in 2022 that Cripps was the sole captain of Carlton.

"It's been an absolute honour to have held the captaincy alongside Doc for the past three seasons – it's largely thanks to him that I've grown to be the leader I am today," Cripps said in a statement at the time.
