'A Streetcar Named Desire' starring Paul Mescal to return to the West ...
Paul Mescal is best known for his roles in Gladiator II, Normal People, and All Of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott. Patsy Ferran will also star.
Paul Mescal will reprise his Olivier Award-winning turn as Stanley in Rebecca Frecknall's production of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire in the West End next year. The play will run for three weeks only from 3-22 February 2025 at the Noël Coward Theatre.
Known for his roles in Gladiator II, Normal People, and All Of Us Strangers, Mescal will be joined by Patsy Ferran (Summer & Smoke) as Blanche, Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts) as Stella, and Dwane Walcott (One Night in Miami, Our Girl) as Harold ‘Mitch’ Mitchell.
The production will then transfer to the US from 28 February – 06 April, 2025.
The production previously ran at the Almeida Theatre from December 2022 to February 2023, before moving to the Phoenix Theatre later that year. Mescal took home the Olivier Award for Best Actor, and Anjana Vasan for Best Supporting Actress, while Patsy Ferran won a Best Actress Critics' Circle Award.
The rest of the cast includes Eduardo Ackerman (Pablo Gonzales), Rob Dempsey (Understudy Drummer/Doctor), Janet Etuk (Eunice Hubbel), Alexander Eliot (Steve Hubbel/Understudy Stanley Kowalski/Harold "Mitch" Mitchell), Gabriela Garcia (Flower Seller/Nurse/Singer/Understudy Stella Kowalski), Francesca Knight (Understudy Blanche Dubois/Eunice Hubbel), Tom Penn (Doctor/Drummer), Curtis Patrick (Understudy Young Collector/Steve Hubbel/Pablo Gonzales), Constanza Ruff (Understudy Flower Seller/Nurse/Singer), and Jabez Sykes (Young Collector).
Williams's play follows the tensions that escalate in an intimate New Orleans home one summer, when Blanche visits her estranged sister Stella and is introduced to Stanley with dangerous and far-reaching repercussions.
The creative team includes director Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret), set designer Madeleine Girling, costume designer Merle Hensel, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Peter Rice, and composer Angus MacRae.
