Carlton vs Port Adelaide scoreboardHorne-Francis drills HUGE goal after switch

Port's lead is out to two kicks as Jason Horne-Francis slots the set shot from directly in front 45m out!

Five minutes left and Port leads by eight points.

A terrific switch from Willem Drew as Carlton flooded Port's attacking 50, and then Zak Butters found Horne-Francis with a lovely chipped kick inside 50.

Hollands denied on the goal line

Terrific stuff from Jordon Sweet!

A long range set shot from Elijah Hollands looks like it's about to float through, and Sweet gets the palm on it.

Port clinging to a three-point lead with seven minutes left.

Still plenty of time for both teams.

Port's pressure immense in the final quarter

There is SO much heat on the footy out there from both sides.

Port with the ball locked in their forward 50 at the moment as they press to get this lead above a goal.

The Power have 17 tackles inside 50 to Carlton's seven, and it's helped them own the territory in this quarter.

Port Adelaide hits the front after dubious free kick

PORT ADELAIDE HAS HIT THE FRONT!

Absolute scenes here in front of a STUNNED crowd inside Docklands Stadium.

Jackson Mead nails the set shot after a downfield free kick where Nic Newman in an attempted smother attempt flattened Darcy Byrne-Jones.

Not sure about that decision from the umpire.

Port leads the clearance count 18-7 so far in this half, their midfield all over Carlton's at the moment.

Ratugolea gets Port within a kick

Port Adelaide with the first of the final term and three in a row!

Esava Ratugolea nails the set shot from close range after another excellent contested mark, his sixth mark of the night.

Carlton's lead down to just two points. Port has kicked five of the last six goals of the match.

Rioli with a pair of misses to start the fourth

Willie Rioli with two straight behinds to start the final quarter, as Port continues to bang on the door.

Meanwhile, Ken Hinkley has activated his sub, as Quinton Narkle gets set to come on for Lachie Jones, who has been taken off with an Achilles issue.

Final quarter underway at the Docklands

Here we go!

20 minutes of play left in this proverbial eight-pointer at Docklands Stadium.

The first goal looms as HUGE. A massive difference between a four-point game and a 16-point game.

Key Event

3QT: Game on after Port Adelaide's brilliant quarter

It's anyone's game as the siren sounds to end the third quarter.

Port Adelaide wrestled back Carlton's momentum in that quarter, kicking three goals to one, and they could've had more.

A Carlton lead which once sat at 31 points late in the second quarter has been whittled down to just 10 points.

Port well on top around the ground. They lead the disposal count 272-260, the inside 50s 42-37 and the clearances 36-21.

This match is placed eerily similarly to the last time these two teams faced off in Round 12.

On that occasion, the Blues led by seven points at the final change before kicking eight goals to three in the last quarter.

Will history repeat once again?

Farrell drills set shot as Port closes in

Two in a row to Port Adelaide and the game is well and truly on here at the Docklands!

A rushed kick in defence from Ollie Hollands lands in the hands of Kane Farrell 45m out from goal.

The left-footer goes back and drills it post-high and Carlton's lead is down to 11 points.

Rioli pumped after snap in heavy traffic

Willie Rioli gets in on the act for Port Adelaide!

Some lovely patience from Frankie Evans, who found himself deep in the pocket under some pressure.

Evans eventually snaps it back into dangerous territory, and Rioli kicks the typical crumber's goal from just outside the goal square.

Port definitely pressing here.

Kennedy strikes back instantly for Carlton

That's got to hurt for Port Adelaide.

After working so hard to get a goal, the Blues go virtually straight down the other end to kick their first of the quarter.

Lovely composure from Patrick Cripps on the wing after he got the ball and resisted the long kick inside 50 with no men on offer for the Blues.

Cripps' short hit-up is followed by a long kick inside 50 and Matthew Kennedy climbs all over Brandon Zerk-Thatcher to take a brilliant contest mark 30m out directly in front.

The Blues midfield slots it after making the goal umpire work a little.

That's been the difference between the two teams tonight, Carlton has just been better at making their momentum pay on the scoreboard while Port has been incredibly wasteful.

Byrne-Jones ends third quarter stalemate

Finally Port Adelaide has a goal in this third quarter!

They've made all the running so far in this quarter, but hadn't capitalised until that moment.

It's not the cleanest of goals, but wonderful work from Esava Ratugolea to bring the ball to ground level, and Darcy Byrne-Jones crumbs to perfection.

Port's goal comes on their NINTH inside 50 of the quarter.

Early chances missed for Port Adelaide

Geez, Port are kicking themselves out of this one.

There's been no goal to either side through the first five minutes of the third term, but Port should be closer.

Mitch Georgiades and Zak Butters with some easy misses, with Butters hitting the post from a set shot directly in front 40m out.

After a quiet first half, both Butters and Horne-Francis have lifted so far in the third term.

Port with the momentum, but they've got to make it count on the scoreboard. They've had the ball in their forward half 75 per cent so far in this quarter.

Second half underway at the Docklands

We're off and running in the third quarter here at the Docklands.

Can Port fight their way back into this contest?

Butters, JHF quiet for Port Adelaide in the first half

If Port Adelaide is to get out of this hole, they need Zak Butters to wake up in the second half.

Butters is so often the barometer for this Port Adelaide midfield, but he's been held to just 10 disposals so far in this one.

The Port star has been held under 25 disposals just five times this season, and his team has lost two of those matches.

A big half coming up for Port Adelaide's No.9.

Jason Horne-Francis also needs to lift for the Power, after being held to just seven touches in the first half. Horne-Francis is currently the lowest-rated player on the ground.

Half-time stat check from the Docklands

Key Event

HT: Port steamrolled by Blues in second quarter

That quarter showed exactly why Carlton is a terrifying proposition for any opponent heading into the finals.

There is perhaps no better team at capitalising on momentum, and the Blues showed it there with seven goals in the quarter, including a run of six straight.

The Blues take a 25-point lead into the main break, and the game isn't over yet, but a lot has to change for Port.

In good news, Port has largely kept the Blues' midfield in check - they lead the total clearance count 21-15, and lead the centre clearance count 7-5.

The problem for the Power has been their turnovers, with five of Carlton's eight goals coming from turnovers, including three in that quarter.

Charlie Curnow was the best player on the ground in the first half, kicking three goals and racking up 11 disposals.

Georgiades snaps Carlton's streak

Mitch Georgiades with his third goal of the night, and another excellent set shot from an acute angle.

He's crunched in a marking contest after a great kick inside 50 from Travis Boak.

Georgiades drills another one from the wrong side for a right-footer and breaks a run of six straight Carlton goals.

There's just under two minutes left in the quarter, can the Power add another?

Motlop goals after a brilliant centred kick

Six in a row for the Blues as Jesse Motlop drills a set shot from directly in front 20m out.

The story of this goal is a wonderful kick that found him through Matthew Kennedy.

Kennedy was running into goal and would've been well within his rights to have a pop on the run, but kicks across his body brilliantly and finds Motlop.

This has been excellent footy from the Blues this quarter and they're well worth this 31-point lead.
