Hawthorn led by as many as 41 points against Port Adelaide, but it was the Power who snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat with one second remaining on the clock on Sunday night.

And it was the unlikely hero, Darcy Byrne-Jones, who kicked the winning goal to give Port Adelaide a one-point victory at Adelaide Oval.

The Hawks led by 28 points at three-quarter time, but it was the Power who refused to waste any opportunities in the final term, piling on four goals, while keeping Hawthorn to just one point.

After struggling to capitalise in the dying minutes, despite having all the play in their forward 50, Port Adelaide goal sneak Willie Rioli was able to reduce the margin to just 11 points with 22 seconds on the clock.

After winning the ruck tap, the ball landed in Willem Drew's lap, handing it off to Zak Butters, who smashed the ball onto his boot and into the Power's forward line.

It was then a missed mark and pressure that saw Hawthorn players unable to shut the ball down.

The ball eventually trickled out the back, with Byrne-Jones kicking it off the turf on a slight angle, scoring the winning goal.

The win takes the Power to 7-3 after 10 rounds.

Butters starred for the Power with 3 disposals, while it was young midfielder Jason Horne-Francis who stood up to guide them to the win with 27 touches.

Butters and Horne-Francis shared 14 clearances.

Post-match, after the Power sang their song, the players got around Byrne-Jones, chanting "DBJ" in honour of Byrne-Jones' freak effort.

The win moves the Power into fourth on the ladder, where they'll stay if the Eagles manage to knock off the Demons on Sunday night.
