The U.S. owns a 12-1-1 record overall in the Presidents Cup against the International side, which represents the rest of the world excluding Europe.
The lone win for the Internationals was in 1998, when current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was two years old, and the two sides tied five years later in 2003.

Getty Images What Is The Makeup Of The Teams? The International team will have the edge in home country support, with a Canadian captain (Mike Weir) and three Canadian golfers (Corey Connors, Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Pendrith). Also on that team is Australia’s Adam Scott, who is playing in his 11th straight Presidents Cup without having been on a winning team.
Four players on the International side – Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and Scott – have all played in at least four Presidents Cup competitions.
Coming into this week, the U.S. doesn’t have any golfers who have appeared in the event more than twice. Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele will all be playing in their third Presidents Cup this week, while there are also four rookies on the American side.
The American team does not include Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, both of whom have long starred in team competitions, and is without any LIV golfers like Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. Spieth, who went 5-0 for the U.S. in 2022, underwent wrist surgery after the PGA Tour season and Thomas wasn’t tabbed as a captain’s pick despite his 17-7-4 record in Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup matches. The International team is without LIV golfers such as Cameron Smith (Australia) and Joaquin Niemann (Chile).
After a record-setting 14 players made their Presidents Cup debuts in 2022, only six players will be doing so in 2024, which is tied for third fewest all time.

There are no playoffs, with each side receiving a half-point if a match is tied after 18 holes. In a change inspired by the events of the 2003 Presidents Cup, if the match is deadlocked at the end of singles play, the competition will be ruled a tie and the teams will share the Presidents Cup.
