Real Sociedad 1-2 PSG (Mbappe [x2])
The Mbappe roadshow rolled into San Sebastian for the second leg as he was, once again, the star in the second leg of PSG's Round of 16 clash.
It took him less than 15 minutes to break the deadlock and give his side an almost unassailable lead with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner. The Frenchman then put the tie truly beyond doubt just before the hour mark with an equally clinical finish, this time inside the near post.
With the tie reaching its conclusion, Real Sociedad got themselves on the scoreboard thanks to Mikel Merino's 89th-minute volley.
Job done for PSG.

PSG 2-0 Real Sociedad (Mbappe, Barcola)
A runners-up finish could have led to a really tricky Round of 16 tie, but PSG were relatively fortunate as Real Sociedad, one of the tournament's more inexperienced teams, were their opponents.
As the runners up, it was a home tie first for Luis Enrique's side and they took advantage of playing in front of their own supporters.
Mbappe opened the scoring, as he often does, after a goalless first half before 21-year-old Bradley Barcola made it 2-0 with a deft finish.
And that is how the game finished, with PSG taking a two-goal lead to San Sebastian for the second leg.

Now, let's take a look at how these two teams made it this far.
PSG had the misfortune of being drawn in Group E, which many considered the Group of Death. Dortmund, Milan and Newcastle were their opponents.
PSG were far from their best with defeats at St James' Park and the San Siro standing out, but they did enough to make it into the knockouts as runners up.

Dortmund are without Ramy Bensebaini and Julien Duranville.
Marcel Sabitzer has been struggling with illness, while Donyell Malen and Sebastien Haller are also doubtful as they recover from recent injuries.

Luis Enrique was in no mood to discuss why his side are the favourites to win this tie.
“That shows that the press doesn't know much about football,” the PSG boss laughed on Tuesday.
“I have said that for a long time. What is great about being here is enjoying a really special game at a unique stadium in Europe and having the chance to make our fans really happy by reaching the final.”

Paris Saint-Germain are the favourites to win this tie and Dortmund manager Edin Terzic acknowledged yesterday home advantage will likely be key to his side’s chances today.
“We want to create two close games,” Terzic said. “We have the opportunity to get a good result with home advantage. We want to establish a small advantage for ourselves that will improve our situation in Paris.
“We need to perform for 180 minutes at the highest level in order to achieve our big dream of reaching the final. First in Dortmund and then in Paris next week.”

Presnel Kimpembe and Sergio Rico are the only absentees Luis Enrique has to contend with today.

These two sides met in the group stage of this year’s tournament. PSG beat Dortmund 2-0 at home but the match in Germany ended in a 1-1 draw.
Goncalo Ramos, who spoke to the press alongside his manager, said yesterday that PSG have improved since those games, however.
“I think we are more of a team than in the last game against them because we have had more time to work, more time to know each other,” he said.
“There were a lot of new players into the club before this season who had never played together but now it is more like a family. When we played here before we didn't have a whole team healthy and now we have everything.”

PSG made a piece of club history when they came back to beat Barcelona in the previous round. The French side had never before overturned a first-leg defeat at home in the Champions League.
“I do hope it liberates us because this is something that we haven't done before after losing the first leg. I also have experience that shows how important it is to be competitive tomorrow,” Luis Enrique said.
“What we achieved previously doesn't matter. History is great, but our goal is to win tomorrow. We don't want to leave it to chance and think about the second leg at the Parc des Princes.”

Luis Enrique is one happy man. His PSG side were crowned as French champions at the weekend and have already booked their spot in the Coupe de France final, against Lyon.
But the Champions League is the trophy they covet above all other.
“We are trying to keep improving and it is just the start of the project,” Enrique said at Tuesday’s pre-match press conferences. “We have gradually improved our performance levels and now there is one month left until the end of the season, and we are alive in every competition.
“This is the biggest competition in all of Europe with four teams left all capable of reaching the final, so we need to manage our emotions, manage the pressure and play well.
“But we should not be threatened by that pressure. I think we head into it at the perfect stage of our season.”

There has been no secret made of this being Kylian Mbappe's last season at PSG.
He will have been at the club for seven seasons by the time he leaves in the summer and the only trophy that has eluded him is the Champions League. He came within touching distance of the famous cup in 2020 but the French side were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich.
Mbappe has spoken several times of wanting to bring PSG their maiden Champions League title and this is his last chance.
He and his team-mates head into this tie as favourites to reach the final, but there is lots of work to do across this two-legged semi-final.

What a season of Champions League football we have been treated to so far.
I cannot remember a better line-up of quarter-finals than the ones we enjoyed in the last round.
And the excitement continued last evening as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid played out a thrilling 2-2 first-leg draw at the Allianz Arena.
Goals for Leroy Sane and Harry Kane were sandwiched between another pair of goals from Vinicius Junior.
More of the same tonight, please!
