King Charles III attended a prayer service organized at Crathie Kirk, the royal family’s place of worship in Scotland, on the occasion of the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death.

Charles and his wife Camilla are spending the summer in the Scottish Highlands, where the Queen died on this day in 2022 at the age of 96.

Charles and Camilla attended a Sunday morning service in the small granite church of Crathie Kirk, the royal family’s place of worship.

Charles’ great-great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, laid the foundation stone for the church, and Elizabeth was a regular visitor.

Queen Elizabeth II, who had been on the throne for 70 years, died while on holiday at her Balmoral in Scotland. She was 96 years old.

Elizabeth officially took the throne in 1953, aged just 25, and reigned for an impressive 70 years, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

Her reign lasted for several stormy decades, which made her a symbol of stability and permanence for the nation.

The royal family’s social media honored the occasion by sharing a photo of the Queen from a 2019 garden party, accompanied by the message: “Remembering Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022.” Additionally, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer paid tribute, acknowledging her enduring legacy of service and the vital role she played in the nation’s life during her reign.
