Cody Walker produced a superb cut out pass for winger Izaac Tu’itupou Thompson to score in the corner and give Souths an early lead.

Dean Hawkins pounced on a pinpoint grubber from Cody Walker as Souths scored their second inside 10 minutes.

Jai Arrow was sin-binned for repeated infringements from Souths.

“That was so silly from Jai Arrow. They were cautioned, (then) he gave away the penalty,” Cronk said.

“What the hell was Jai Arrow thinking? His team has just got off to a good start against a team that has won three in a row and now they’re standing behind the tryline with a try to the Panthers.”

Sunia Turuva scored a try on the back of the sin bin, despite replays showing Brad Schneider may have thrown a forward pass in the lead-up.

Schneider sliced through to score under the posts as Penrith drew level.

Hawkins came from the field with a quad injury in a big blow for Souths with Jack Wighton moving into the halves.

Luke Garner cut through to score the Panthers’ third and give them their first lead of the night.

Jye Gray succumbed to an ankle injury at half-time with Damien Cook moving to fullback and Peter Mamouzelos coming on at hooker.
