Comedian behind doomed Raygun musical seemingly finds legal ...
The comedian behind the doomed Raygun musical has seemingly found a legal loophole to host her breakdance-inspired show.
Stephanie Broadbridge's Raygun-inspired musical was over before it even began earlier this month after the Olympian's lawyers quickly muscled in and shut it down.
Breaking The Musical: A Completely Legal Parody Musical will be playing in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney next year and is Broadbridge's second attempt to host a stage show inspired by Gunn's Olympic debut.
Broadbridge announced the news on Instagram with a poster for the musical, which no longer features Raygun's name and likeness.
Instead, it included a shadow of a kangaroo seemingly performing Gunn's now-infamous hop move.
Tickets for the musical are available now and it will run from February until May 2025.
The musical will be performed at Adelaide Fringe from February 28 until March 2, however the venues for the Melbourne and Sydney shows are yet to be announced.
The original Raygun the Musical was set to be performed at iD Comedy Club in Darlinghurst on December 7.
"It was really unfortunate the show had to be cancelled so close to the launch, I know the artist would have put a lot of work into it and that really sucks, but had we known about it sooner, there could have been a different outcome," she said in a statement.
Anthony Skinner, owner of the venue iD Comedy Club, said his club was sent the $10,000 legal bill yesterday to cover costs Gunn incurred.
He said business conditions were tough and the legal bill would "completely devastate" him.
"I'm hoping this will stop," Skinner said.
"I run a stand up comedy business in a city and country that's not designed for comedy in any way."
