For Modric, Real Madrid is not in crisis
Real Madrid captain, Croatian Luka Modric, dismissed on Wednesday any suggestion that his team is going through a crisis, though he acknowledged that the team will need to work hard to regain quality in their play after suffering two consecutive defeats, in La Liga and the Champions League.
"This is not a crisis. It’s not a word I like to use. I’ve been here for 12 years, and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a situation like this," Modric told the Croatian agency Hina.
The midfielder made these statements after Real Madrid's 1-3 loss to Milan in Tuesday night's Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabéu.
While he admitted that in that game, in which he played until the 63rd minute, Real Madrid did not have their "best performance," he explained that it is not easy for him to assess his own performance.
"There were moments when we played well, but it wasn’t our best performance. Overall, we played poorly, and Milan was the better team," highlighted the veteran player, who at 39 years old has won 27 trophies and played 550 games with Real Madrid.
"Our quality isn’t showing right now. We need to work harder as a team; only then do things become easier. I’m sure we will recover," Modric concluded.
Yesterday’s defeat followed Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona (0-4) in the La Liga clásico on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
After four games played, Real Madrid has six points in the Champions League, and their next match will be away against Liverpool
