La Liga president Javier Tebas used X, formerly known as Twitter, to attack his Real Madrid counterpart Florentino Perez in response to statements the latter made at a General Assembly on Sunday.

The Spanish top flight was one of a number of parties Perez took a dig at alongside UEFA and France Football, which he felt should have awarded Vinicius Jr. the Ballon d'Or for the world's best male soccer player late last month and not Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

Perez brought up the CVC deal La Liga made with the American investment firm in 2021, and which Real Madrid alongside a few others including bitter rival FC Barcelona refused to accept.

Perez said that the agreement was "an expropriation" of the club designed to "steal" its assets, ahead of announcing that he will propose a corporate organization in the future at another assembly to guarantee that Madrid's members are its real owners which should protect its income from La Liga.

Taking to X after the assembly, Tebas tweeted that after listening to it, he still sees in Perez "that 'messianic' character of the saviour of football that, paradoxically, no one in the sector supports. According to him, everything is wrong and only his ideas are correct".

"Last Friday, 22nd, at the LaLiga assembly, some of his criticisms of our organisation were addressed. These were vehemently defended by (Real Madrid Director General Jose Angel Sanchez) JAS, but after a serious debate and a secret vote, he only managed to get 3 votes out of 42 possible".

Tebas said that Perez "cannot fool the La Liga clubs, although it seems that he can fool others, including certain sectors of the political class".

"We will continue to expose his lies, phantom amendments and half-truths. The only thing that is evident is his clear influence in certain political circles, something that he tells without even blushing," Tebas signed off.

An extension of a long-standing row between two of the most powerful men in Spanish soccer in Tebas and Perez came hours before kick off between Madrid and Leganes in La Liga.

After FC Barcelona's latest slip up away to Celta Vigo, Madrid can move within a point of the Catalans at the top of the table if it wins both of its games in hand.
