AFL 2021 LIVE updates: Eagles and Dogs set for grandstand finish, Tigers overwhelm young Hawks

Follow all the major moments as round two reaches its conclusion with Sunday football.

Macrae’s attempt on goal from traffic 30m out was wide of the mark, but put the Bulldogs’ noses in front.

However, a few minutes later Jones was waiting out the back of the pack, collected the crumbs and banged it home from the goal square.

The Eagles take a five-point lead with 3:31 to go! It’s 14.9.93 to 12.16.88.

These two sides have only played in one draw from 56 encounters, and with 5:58 left in the contest, they’re a chance to play out their second.

Shortly after Laitham Vandermeer strolled to 30m out to bang home his first major to put the Bulldogs back in front, Jack Darling replied with a converted set shot to kick his third goal and end a run of three consecutive Bulldogs goals.

After 10 lead changes, scores are level again - the Dogs are 12.15.87, the Eagles 13.9.87.

What a finale we’re in for!

All of a sudden this game has come alive! Two goals in a minute from Bruce and Naughton have cut the margin to just one point. The Eagles have their noses in front 12.9.81 to 11.14.80.

There is still plenty of time for the Bulldogs with 9:17 left in the contest.

Bruce now has three goals to his name while Naughton has a pair.

The third quarter was mostly a goal-for-goal arm wrestle, but the Eagles broke the deadlock late with three majors in a row to Darling, Allen and Ryan to skip out to a 12-point lead at three-quarter-time, 12.6.78 to 9.12.66, which is their biggest advantage of the day.

Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge would be tearing his hair out because his team is still dominating the disposals 320-248 and tackles 35-23 while they lead the inside 50s 39-33 as well.

However, West Coast now have their noses in front on clearances 29-25, thanks largely to Kelly and Naitanui who led the hitouts that quarter 14-2.

Things really aren’t going the Bulldogs way today. Caleb Daniel would be the last person you’d expect to do this. He’s one of the best kicks in the country! This game just has that feeling of dread about it for the Dogs. They’ve dominated play, but are their own worst enemy in attack and can’t translate onto the scoreboard.

Marcus Bontempelli is having a day out - halfway through the third quarter he has 24 disposals (nine contested), 11 score involvements, five clearances, five inside 50s, four marks, two goals and a goal assist.

Josh Kennedy takes a huge overhead pack mark and he is the main reason why the Eagles are still in this contest. Early in the third quarter he already has four goals to his name as the Bulldogs lead by just eight points, 8.11.59 to 8.3.51, despite enjoying most of the play.

Nic Naitanui lays a crunching tackle on Mitch Wallis. The Eagles ruckman is having his usual impact today with 10 disposals, 16 hitouts, seven clearances, five score involvements and four inside 50s.

Carlton AFLW forward Darcy Vescio has clinched the leading goalkicking title for season 2021 with 15 majors. Great effort!
