Professional road racing cyclist Rohan Dennis has been charged with causing the death of his wife, Olympian Melissa Hoskins — after a crash that occurred in Adelaide's inner north on Saturday.

Police said Ms Hoskins suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment, but she died overnight.
Mr Dennis was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life — he was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.
32-year-old Melissa Hoskins was known as a former track and road racing cyclist who announced her retirement from professional cycling in 2017.

A list of her achievements online state that the West Australian competed in the 2012 London Olympics in the women's cycling Team Pursuit and also in the 2016 Rio Olympics where she was involved in a high-speed crash at the Olympic Velodrome during training.
Ms Hoskins also competed in several national track championships and UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
Social media posts by the couple show that they married in Margaret River, south of Perth in 2018.

33-year-old Rohan Dennis' online achievements state that he has competed in several Grand Tour competitions including Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana.
The pro cyclist has also won several medals representing Australia, winning a silver for a Team Pursuit at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze for a time trial at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Mr Dennis recently posted a photo of himself and Ms Hoskins and their two children saying "Merry Christmas from our family to yours."

The couple were initially listed on the Santos Tour Down Under website to lead a family ride event at next year's cycling event in Adelaide — but those details have since been removed from the website.
Police said Ms Hoskin's death is the 114th life lost on SA roads this year, compared to 71 at the same time last year.
