They provided a soundtrack for a generation with hit after hit after hit in the 1980s.

Now, legendary Swedish pop-rockers Roxette are returning to Australia in 2025, including a special Day on the Green performance in the Hunter.

Joining the party at Bimbadgen Estate on Saturday 15 March will be Jon Stevens and hit machine Boom Crash Opera.

In 2016, Roxette did what everyone believed were their last-ever concerts.

But, the duo’s frontman, songwriter and founder Per Gessle is picking up the torch and hitting the road again after lead singer Marie Fredriksson lost her life to cancer five years ago.

Per Gessle is teaming up with Swedish megastar Lena Philipsson.

He’ll continue their legacy, this time with Swedish megastar Ms Lena Philipsson, performing all the classics Dressed For Success, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Fading Like A Flower and number one singles The Look, It Must Have Been Love and Joyride.

“This is all about my Roxette songs, this huge bundle of music and lyrics I’ve been writing for well over three decades,” Per said.

“I’m not starting a new duo.

“Marie will always be irreplaceable.

“However, I’m really lucky to have found an amazing voice and a brilliant performer in Lena Philipsson.

“I co-wrote her first major hit back in 1986 and she’s one of the brightest shining stars Sweden has ever known.

“I’m extremely proud she wants to join me in my trek to keep the Roxette legacy alive.”

Lena echoed that sentiment.

“I’m both excited and thrilled about embarking on this tour,” she said.

“I really look forward to working with Per – he is a phenomenal songwriter and a never-ending musical force.”

Supporting Roxette is Jon Stevens, one of our most talented and acclaimed rock performers.

He found fame fronting Noiseworks, who had four Top 10 albums and 12 Top 50 singles, including the classics No Lies, Take Me Back, Touch and Hot Chilli Woman.

Stevens then fronted INXS.

Boom Crash Opera is certainly a band you can rely on.

One of Australia’s most-loved acts, they are an intoxicating mix of indie pop and stadium rock.

With 13 Top 50 singles, five Top 50 albums and unforgettable hits and anthems such as Great Wall, Hands Up In The Air, Get Out Of The House!, The Best Thing, Dancing In The Storm, City Flat, Her Charity and Onion Skin, they’re not to be missed.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 10 May from 10am.
