Corbett, Scrums Help Drive Mount Rugby in Defeat at Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 21, 2024) – Evan Corbett contributed three field goals, and effective pushes in the scrum made up the scoring as Mount St. Mary's men's rugby battled undefeated Queens. The Royals mustered a second half scoring run to take the contest, 36-19.   The Mountaineers now stand at 2-2 this season.   HOW IT HAPPENED

Corbett's first field goal of the morning gave the Mount an early 3-0 advantage Queens pulled even on a field goal of their own before scoring the first try of the game along with a conversion A second Corbett field goal brought the score to 10-6 Royals by halftime After Queens notched a second try, the Mount pushed a scrum past the try line to get back within four points Corbett tacked on his third field goal of the day as the Mountaineers made it 15-14 in favor of the Royals Queens then went on a 21-0 run to seal the victory. The Mount added a late try thanks to a second scrum push

  Mount St. Mary's returns home to host Life next Saturday (Sept. 28).
