A tantalising US Open final rematch awaits Coco Gauff in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open.
Despite dropping her first set of the tournament in a tough, scrappy 7-6 (6) 6-7 (4) 6-2 win over Marta Kostyuk in the quarter-finals, the 19-year-old is into the last four in Melbourne for the first time.
She will face the toughest test the draw could have given her: second seed and reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka, the same woman Gauff defeated last year at Flushing Meadows to win the US Open. Sabalenka beat Barbora Krejcikova 6-2 6-3 in the quarter-finals.
It will be the seventh time the pair have faced off in WTA competition, with Gauff winning four of their six prior meetings. Sabalenka's victories against Gauff came at Indian Wells last year and at Ostrava in 2020.
