2024 SAG Awards best moments: Pedro Pascal's upset, Elizabeth ...
Oppenheimer has won best cast in a motion picture at the Screen Actors Guild awards to continue its dominance this season ahead of the Oscars.
Australian Elizabeth Debicki won for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, beating fellow Australian Sarah Snook who was nominated for her role in Succession.
But it was Lily Gladstone's win in the penultimate award of the night which will shake up the race for best actress at the Academy Awards next month.
Let's take a look at some of the key moments.

Meryl Streep stumbled on stage to present the first awards of the night, but somehow she'd forgotten her glasses and the card to read from.
But luckily Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were on hand to help our old friend Miranda Priestley.
And then Hathway and Blunt started quoting her lines back to her.
"By all means, move at a glacial pace!" and "No, no that wasn't a question."
And as it turns out, Streep was in Prada!
It was one of many reunions with the casts of Modern Family and Breaking Bad also taking the stage.

And it turns out it's Melissa McCarthy!
Eilish refused to sign her dress, saying she didn't want to ruin it, but had no such qualms autographing McCarthy's face.
She put her hand over McCarthy's mouth as she feverishly asked about Eilish's songwriting process.

Pedro Pascal beat out the Succession trio of Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Matthew Macfadyen to take home the award for best male actor in a drama series.
It's fair to say the star of The Last of Us wasn't expecting it. "This is wrong for a number of reasons," he said on stage. "I am a little drunk, I thought I could get drunk."
He said as a member of the union since 1999 it was an incredible honour.
"I am making a fool of myself," he said before abruptly ending the speech and exiting the stage.
He later said he didn't remember what he said when accepting the award and was "very surprised". "Let's YouTube it later," he said backstage.
A surprise for DebickiThere's nothing quite like seeing an actor in shock when their name is called out and that was the case for Australian Elizabeth Debicki.
She won best female actor in a drama series for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown to add to her Golden Globe she won earlier this year.
And in doing so she beat fellow Australia Sarah Snook who took home the awards at both the Golden Globes and the Emmys this year.

Lily Gladstone beat out Emma Stone to take home the best actress award and leave everyone asking, who will win the Oscar?
Stone took home the award at the Critics Choice and BAFTAs while both actors won at the Golden Globes in their respective categories — drama and musical/comedy.
But next month one will miss out.
Meanwhile, Oppenheimer duo Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. continued their dominance this awards season while The Holdovers star Da'Vine Joy Randolph also picked up another award.
This firms their grasp on their respective awards at the Oscars but other categories remain open.
Picking up best ensemble is a strong sign for Oppenheimer with three out of four Best Picture winners since 2020 also taking out this SAG Award.

That's so much of the fun of awards season (especially if you're like me and the closest thing you have to sports is Drag Race): The narrative can completely change from week to week.
And besides, there's always the threat of a slap or La La Land/Moonlight gaffe, too. Don't you just LOVE it?
As the last major award ahead of the Oscars on March 11, the SAGs take place just two days before voting closes.
A few things seem clear: Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Da'Vine Joy Randolph are sure things. The three of them have all won their respective categories across the SAGs, BAFTAs and Golden Globes.
I still wouldn't count out Paul Giamatti sneaking in and taking Murphy's potential Best Actor Oscar, but it's looking less likely than it did a few hours ago.
Oppenheimer's chances for Best Picture were already looking great, but tonight's Best Ensemble win all but cements it. After all, three out of four Best Picture winners since 2020 have also taken out this SAG Award out, too.
The Academy Awards have 23 trophies to hand out though, vs. the SAG's six film awards.
Barbie fans, don't worry: it's still likely to win a few below-the-line categories and Best Original Song.
Depending on whether Lily Gladstone or Emma Stone win best Best Actress, it could be a complete snub of a night for Killers of The Flower Moon or Poor Things. They're respectively nominated for 11 and 10 Oscars, but none look assured - Best Actress seems like both films' best bet, which means one has to lose out.
Oppenheimer won all three categories it was nominated in, literally half of the SAG's film awards.
That's lead and supporting awards for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., plus an ensemble cast award too.
Otherwise, Killers of The Flower Moon, The Holdovers and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One each took home one trophy.
It was a good night for The Bear, coming out on top with three awards.
Actors Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri won out their individual categories, and the show took out Best Ensemble - Comedy, too.
Just behind with two awards are Netflix's limited series Beef and HBO's video game adaptation The Last of Us.
The Crown and Succession each won a single award.
Idris Elba is wrapping up the ceremony with a message for SAG members.
"We are all winners," he says.

Gladstone is also the first publicly out gender diverse person to ever be nominated across any acting category.
A win would be huge for both of those communities.

I started this blog saying Succession was a sure thing for at least two, potentially three awards tonight, but the voters decided to spread the love, instead offering them Best Ensemble.
I considered Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook sure things for the best actor categories, and seemingly so did winners Pedro Pascal and Elizabeth Debicki, both expressing their surprise in their speeches.
With Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook and Brian Cox absent tonight, Alan Ruck took the mic to speak on behalf of the cast. That's a win for Con-heads everywhere.
Best drama ensemble goes to Succession, who have missed out on a few other awards tonight.
The cast describes it as "one last hurrah" as the show has finished up with its fourth and final season.
They end with a group hug on stage.

"I hold you all with the highest esteem and greatest respect, for you are the champions," she said to a silent room.
"You survived the longest strike in our union’s history with courage and conviction. The journey was arduous, came with great sacrifice and unrelenting stress.'
"Your collective dignity and perseverance to stand up and say, “We deserve better because we are better,” resulted in an historic 'Billion Dollar Deal.' Your solidarity ignited workers around the world, triggering what forever will be remembered as 'The Hot Labor Summer.' You survived the longest strike in our union's history with courage and conviction."
"You took the hero's journey and stood at the front lines, strike captains led the march on the picket lines and we all showed up to the rallies because you understood what our massive contribution means to this marvelous industry."
"And now, here we stand, tall and proud."
Drescher also called out the specific issue of AI in art.
"AI will entrap us in a Matrix where none of us know wha'ts real. If an inventor lacks empathy and spiriutality, then perhaps that's not the inventor we need."
"Dystopia stories can also become a self-fulfilling prophesy. We should tell stories that spark the human spirit, connect us to the natural world and awaken our capacity to love unconditionally."
She then called for female leadership that doesn't "emulate male energy" and leads with intellect, compassion and wisdom.
She ended with a hope for peace, and remarked on SAG-AFTRA's strength.
"I am honoured to be your president as we now enter our golden age."
