Dynamic Norwood forward Izaak Twelftree’s sudden rise to prominence has been rewarded with the 2024 Powerade Breakthrough Player Award.

Playing in just two Hostplus SANFL League matches last season, the 23-year-old featured in every game for the Redlegs in 2024 while becoming a key cog in his team’s structure inside the attacking 50m arc.

Measuring in at 193cm, Twelftree displayed great versatility as he hit the scoreboard with 25 goals while averaging 13 disposals, four marks and four tackles across the minor round.

Signed as a mature-age recruit from Pembroke Old Scholars for the start of the 2022 season, the left-footer showed his persistence by lining up in 23 Reserves matches for the Redlegs before making his League debut in Round 13 of 2023.

Nominated for his standout performance in Round 13 this season, Twelftree kicked four goals against West Adelaide while also chalking up 21 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and six inside 50s.

Earning a $1000 cash prize and a trophy courtesy of SANFL Premier Partner Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia, Norwood’s No.29 is just the second player from The Parade to win the Powerade Breakthrough Player award, joining former Redleg Cole Gerloff in 2019.

Introduced in 2007, the Powerade Breakthrough Player is designed to recognise and reward the best emerging young talent in the Hostplus SANFL League.

To be eligible, players must be aged 23 and under as well as having played 10 Hostplus SANFL League games or less at the start of the year.
