Big Bash League: Shannon Hurn joins Perth Scorchers bench
A special guest was spotted manning the Scorchers bench for their must-win clash with arch-rivals Sydney Sixers.
No stranger to the pine at Optus Stadium, former Eagles defender Shannon Hurn made a special appearance as Perth attempted to sow up the second spot on the table.
The retired star was reportedly a talented cricketer before going down the AFL path.
It is believed he was with the team for some coaching development after calling an end to his AFL career in 2023.
He was treated to a show as English import Laurie Evans did his best to repeat the heroics of his franchise-fastest half century.
After lumbering to one from five balls, he called for an early Power Surge in the 12th over.
It awoke the beast as he slaughtered an over from poor all-rounder Hayden Kerr, taking 28 runs from it with no delivery going for less than four runs.
Hurn played 333 games across his storied West Coast career, kicking 50 goals, with many from long range.
He was also captain in 2018 when the club won their fourth premiership.
The South Australian bowed out alongside fellow stars Luke Shuey, who is also a former captain, and Nic Naitanui.
