Hassan Maatouk has been subbed off and Karim Darwich has come on.

Maatouk is one of Lebanon’s best, but at 36, they needed some fresh legs.

Hrustic comes off with injury, Yazbek to debut

Ajdin Hrustic is looking in a world of pain, who went down and is being looked at by medical staff. He dismissed a stretcher but can’t put any wait on his right foot and is being helped off the ground.

Hrustic was tackled by Tniech, his studs going right into the Australian’s calf. It was a poor challenge and garners questions of why it wasn’t a yellow.

Patrick Yazbek is warming up to come on. It’ll be his debut.

Now Goodwin scores!

And just like that, Australia are three goals clear. This time, it was Craig Goodwin, which is a great result for all his effort this game.

A huge left-foot strike from about 16 metres out. The collected the ball on his chest and struck it beautifully.

Irvine scores!

Well, just a couple of minutes into the second half and Jackson Irvine has put the ball in the back of the net.

It came from a set-piece, a corner from Craig Goodwin.

Harry Souttar’s head was first to the ball and then the ball made it’s way through many players, finally off the boot of Irvine, and into the net.

Here we go, second half

Ok, we’re back for the second half.

In the first, Australia had 70 percent of the possession and 10 shot at goal, but managed to score just the once.

Of those 10, only two were on target. In the words of Sam Kerr: “do youse not work on that?“.

Let’s hope for more results from the opportunities created this half.

Socceroos up 1-0 against Lebanon at half-time By Vince Rugari

That half was an awful lot like the first half in Sydney on Thursday night - thankfully without the injuries.

But again, an early goal took the pressure off the Socceroos, and they didn’t really do too much after that.

The only player who looks capable of making anything happen in attack is Craig Goodwin, who missed last week’s game due to illness but turned in an absolutely mesmerising first 45 minutes.

His left foot should be studied by scientists.

He should have two assists by now - his cross for Kusini Yengi’s goal was terrific but the outside-of-the-foot effort late on there, the one that Harry Souttar nodded into the post?

Wow. Australia is a much, much better team when he’s in it.

7.35pm

Hrustic legs taken, no foul called

Ajdin Hrustic had his legs taken out by a defender and the Socceroos can’t believe a foul wasn’t called. He was in striking distance too.

Hrustic spent some time on the ground in a bit of discomfort but is back up and about now.

We’ve in the four minutes of added time.

Souttar strike hit the woodwork

Ah, that was looked very close.

The ball came in from a Craig Goodwin corner, a beautiful delivery, which found the head of Harry Souttar.

It looked almost certain to go in but hit the post instead - and Souttar looked like he knew that opportunity should have resulted in a goal.

It’s not the ball skimming his forehead, but he’s a shot of Souttar from earlier in the evening:

Bit of a delay as Bugiel gets patched up

There was a slight delay as Omar Bugiel needed to get his eye patched after colliding with Australia big man Harry Souttar.

The Aussie defender’s arm caught Bugiel, drawing blood.

Coming back on, Lebanon won a corner, but the ball, off the boot of Hassan Maatouk, was blocked by Mitch Duke.

Goodwin having a night

In a surprise to presumably few Socceroos fans, Craig Goodwin has been one of Australia’s most influential players so far.

He missed Tuesday’s qualifier with illness and is making his presence known tonight. There are few other players setting up chances to score, with Goodwin putting pace on the ball and driving it towards the box.
