Good chance...

...saved. Ajdin Hrustic hits the target from the top of the box after Jason Geria’s cutback but it rolls straight to the ’keeper. That needed a little more power and better placement.

Ten minutes of stoppage time to come

We’re into added time now.

Gulp.

There’s a lengthy stoppage

Harry Souttar is down and receiving treatment after a head clash with a Bahrani player at an attacking corner for Australia. Hopefully the referee adds this time on at the end...

This is crazy

I can’t believe what I’m watching.

Bahrain were nowhere near it for pretty much the entire match - until two very lucky bounces gave them two very lucky goals. The Socceroos will be kicking themselves that they weren’t well clear, and now they’re behind, with World Cup qualifying in huge trouble now.

Tony Popovic has just made another change - Riley McGree off, Brandon Borrello on. Can the Socceroos jag a point here? How has this even happened?

DISASTER. IT’S 2-1 TO BAHRAIN

You are kidding.

Mahdi Jabar again. And another piece of… I don’t even know what the word is there, but it’s a disaster for the Socceroos.

A cross comes into the box, Hayden Matthews heads it on, it hits the right post, Maty Ryan is stranded, it falls for Jabar and he has a simple tap-in.

Can you believe this? Two goals in two minutes.

Oh dear… Bahrain draws level

My goodness.

From 40 metres out… Bahrain equalise out of absolutely nowhere.

The ball ricochets off the leg of Cameron Burgess, a poor touch, it falls for the substitute Madhi Hasan, he spots Maty Ryan well off his line… and he chips him.

Outrageous.

That changes everything.

Bahrain turning up the heat

Another defensive corner dealt with by the Socceroos but there’s a bit too much territory building here for Bahrain. How valuable (and relaxing) it’d have been if one of those chances from earlier was scored and it was a two-goal buffer...

Here’s a free kick now for the hosts - it finds the head of Mohamed Marhoon and he glances it on but it’s not on the money, and Maty Ryan watches it go out safely.

More changes for the Socceroos

Craig Goodwin and Aziz Behich are done for the night. They’ve been replaced by Ajdin Hrustic and Jordy Bos - more fresh legs for the Socceroos to ensure they stay on top here.

It’s all happening

Those subs have been made by the Socceroos - Jackson Irvine and Lewis Miller have come off for those two players mentioned in the last post.

Meanwhile, Yengi has just gone close again, rattling the woodwork with an effort from short distance - and from the resultant counter-attack there was nearly danger, which was cut off by a smart foul by Anthony Caceres, who copped a yellow for his troubles.

And that should have been 2-0 there again, with another great incursion into the box by Australia, but Yengi can’t get the ball out from under him and it goes begging with the goal at his mercy.

And wow - the action continues. Bahrain just had their best chance of the night! And if it wasn’t for Cameron Burgess blocking the shot from Ibrahim Al-Khatal, I think it was, and it’d be 1-1...

Socceroos remain in control

Not heaps to report in the past 10 minutes. Bahrain are trying to make things happen but their fundamental lack of quality means nothing has actually happened. There’ve been a couple of little flashes at the other end, but only flashes. Meanwhile, Tony Popovic is apparently preparing Aiden O’Neill and Jason Geria to come on shortly.
