Stevie Nicks Is Working On New Music, And Fans Might Hear It Soon

Fleetwood Mac is no more, according to one of its members. Stevie Nicks recently spoke to Mojo magazine about the future of the band–or, rather, the lack of a future.

While the group that propelled her to superstardom decades ago is done with, Nicks isn’t finished with music. She’s currently touring, and according to the powerhouse herself, she’s writing new music…and fans may get to hear it sooner, rather than later.

“At the end of pandemic, I finally started to write again,” Nicks shared with Mojo in a cover story interview. She explained that she’s going back to what she calls “story songs,” which remind her of some of Fleetwood Mac’s most beloved singles.

“I’ve got this song about women’s rights that I think is really strong,” Nicks shared in the wide-ranging interview. She feels good about what she’s creating at the moment, even calling some of her unreleased–and likely unrecorded–material among her best. “I wrote a song called ‘The Vampire’s Wife,’ which is one of the best things I’ve ever written,” she claimed. “It’s a story song, like ‘Gypsy’’s a story song, and ‘Rhiannon’’s a story song.”

So what are the plans for these songs? Nicks isn’t confirming anything yet, but there is some good news for longtime fans of hers. About her collection of tunes she’s written, the singer states that “maybe that’s the beginning of an album.”

Nicks is currently on tour throughout summer 2024. She has dates scheduled around Europe in the warmer months, which will surely be packed with lovers of both her own work and the music Fleetwood Mac released. Mojo notes that the singer is planning on recording her new music later this season, after her trek finishes.

When Nicks will release this music, and in what form, isn’t clear yet. It’s likely that the singer-songwriter doesn’t even know, and that she may figure things out as she goes. It’s been well over a decade since Nicks last released an album, so fans are eager to hear from her again.
